Dimension Data, a $8 Billion global technology integrator and managed services provider, announced that it has been chosen by health IT provider, Sysmex, to move their email server to the cloud. A market leader in the delivery and implementation of clinical IVD and health IT products and services for clinical laboratories, Sysmex seeks to improve patient care in hospitals and healthcare organisations.
Focused on improving clinical services, Sysmex was looking at technology solutions to streamline processes and reduce operational costs. Yet, existing legacy applications and an aging infrastructure proved to be significant challenges. Sysmex needed to re-design their IT infrastructure to ensure that it was agile and scalable.
Having worked with Dimension Data on standardising its desktop platform earlier, Sysmex is familiar with Dimension Data and chose to work with the team again to move its email server to the cloud. An open consultative approach that takes user experience into consideration throughout the migration, resulted in Dimension Data proposing Office 365 – Exchange Online.
Hosted in the cloud, Exchange Online enables organisations to work smarter from anywhere. Its personalised and smarter inbox help employees to collaborate better. Exchange Online works on a consumption-based pricing model and since the move to Exchange Online, Sysmex has enjoyed a significant reduction in capital expenses; with the cost per employee dropping by up to 50 per cent.
Employees also benefited from improved efficiency, as a result of working from a standardised platform across the Asia Pacific region. In particular, Sysmex’s IT team were no longer burdened with service uptime and refresh cycles, and used lesser resources on support and integration. Instead, they could focus on more business-related objectives.
