Wandera, an enterprise mobile security and data management solutions company, deployed the Vertica analytics database management platform, replacing a legacy AWS system. The new deployment improved performance, reliability and scalability of its mobile protection products while avoiding the need to hire additional technical staff with an additional IT productivity boost of 18 percent.
The Vertica deployment realized an ROI of 270 percent with payback in only three months’ time.
Designed to secure mobile devices, optimize data usage and protect sensitive business data, Wandera focuses on prevention, detection and containment of data issues from its software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform. Experiencing speed and scalability issues with its previous vendor, the company recognized the need to expand data storage capacity, improve processing speed, provide real-time information and optimize internal processing.
“The new Vertica analytics deployment augmented existing services with additional nodes on an as-needed basis available on several cloud platforms, helping to avoid vendor lock-in or limited cloud service options. This was extremely important for Wandera as the company has been experiencing high year-on-year growth with the need for a solution that has the capacity and flexibility to expand with the company as they broaden their markets,” said Barbara Peck, principal analyst at Nucleus Research.
Further benefits include increased user productivity with staff accomplishing more in less time using consistently delivered real-time data. Improved technology management has helped Wandera to save approximately $400,000 from direct expenses while running a more reliable system.
Nucleus quantified the initial and ongoing costs of software, hardware, personnel and training to calculate the bank’s total investment in Vertica. Direct benefits quantified included the elimination of legacy software license costs, and the avoidance of additional IT hires.
